We want your clubs to last you as long as possible, which means 'YES' you need to clean and look after them! We have created this easy guide for you to give your golf clubs the TLC they deserve.
Cleaning irons
- Mix a small amount of dish-washing liquid or mild soap in a bucket of warm water, only enough to cover the club heads
- Place the club heads into the bucket until the dirt has softened
- Using an old toothbrush or soft brush (no metal brushes), scrub off the dirt from each club head
- Make sure that you get all the dirt out of the grooves, as dirt in the grooves can impact your next round
- Rinse the club heads off under clean water, making sure not to wet the shafts
- Dry the club heads with a towel, ensuing that the club head and shaft are not left damp as this can easily cause rusting
Cleaning woods
- Mix a small amount of dish-washing liquid or mild soap in a bucket or bowl of warm water
- Dip a cloth or soft toothbrush into the soapy water
- Carefully scrub the dirt off the club head, ensuring not to make it too wet
- Dry the club head with a towel, ensuring the club head and shaft is not left damp
Cleaning shafts and grips
- Use a damp soft cloth to clean and clear away any grime from the shaft and/or the grip.
- Ensure to dry the shaft and/or grip thoroughly with a towel.
Cleaning putters
- Ensure the club head is dried before placing inside the putter cover as this will likely result in rust spots.
Extra Tip - How to clean rust off your golf clubs
With a clean soft cloth apply some vinegar to the shaft and slowly remove any residue, be careful not to scratch the shaft. Once you have removed the rust, make sure to dry the shaft thoroughly from the vinegar.
