This patent-pending technology by PING relies on an air bag strategically placed behind the face inside the cavity that attenuates frequencies for improved sound and feel without restricting bending.
Maraging Steel Face
The forged, variable-thickness maraging-steel face is 9% thinner for more flexing and creates metal-wood-like bending in the transition areas (sole and top), resulting in faster ball speeds and higher max height.
i-Beam
New i-Beam Technology in the i540 iron adds structural support to the 17-4 stainless steel body and contributes to improved sound and feel. The metal-wood-like construction features a beam that extends across the cavity to add structure for improved feel.
Tungsten Weighting
The i540 iron features weight savings from a lighter and shallower face and covered cavity, allowing for tungsten weighting to be placed inside the club along the sole of the 4-7 irons. This lowers the CG, leading to increased ball speed and higher launch angle for better stopping power.
Player-Style Design
Blade enthusiasts will appreciate the compact head’s thin top line, narrow sole and shallow face height. The clean, premium look owes in part to a new machining technique that thins the back wall, saving weight to help with forgiveness and tighten dispersion.
